SpringWell Whole House Well Water Filter System Review

Well, if you have a well as your water storage system, then the SpringWell Well water filter would be one of the best options for you. That sentence has a lot of “wells,” just as there are so many contaminants in your water reservoir. There are two major issues with any form of large water reserves; the increased amount of iron, sulfur, and manganese that ruin the taste and smell of the water, along with adding some health risks.

The other issue is stagnant water is a breeding ground for many dangerous bacteria and parasites that can even be fatal for you. These two factors increase the need for a water filter that can manage both. And so for that reason, we ordered the SpringWell Whole house well water filter and tested it thoroughly to see how effective it is in removing both classes of contaminants. Here is the detailed review, along with the pros and cons, of the SpringWell well water filter.

What’s In The Box?

The SpringWell came in a high-quality box with proper protective packaging and decent wrapping to prevent any transportation damage. The packaging is a very strong indicator of the quality of the product and the services of the company. Bad packaging usually means a bad quality product and poor after-sales services. Gladly, it wasn’t the case with this filter. The box quality was also good.

Now, coming to the quality of the product, there are no complaints in that department at all. This filter feels premium, and it looks premium as well. The matt black finish and the high-quality body build will make you want to put this filter in a room where you can see it. There is also a plastic component at the top of the filter unit, which houses the outlets and a screen. Just as with the metal canister, there is no compromise in the quality of the plastic component or the digital screen. Top marks for the build quality of the product. And brownie points for the look of the filter. It is the best-looking well water filter in the market.

How Does The SpringWell Whole House Filtration Works?

Coming to the most important aspect of the filter is how well this thing can filter your well water reservoir. We have never been disappointed by the quality of any filter from SpringWell that we have tested. They have always worked just as advertised. So what does the company offer with this filter?

Well, water filters are used for mainly three contaminants:

  • Iron: This contaminant is the reason why your bathroom and sink get those reddish-orange stains. Not just that, high content of iron leads to stomach issues, nausea, and other health problems.
  • Hydrogen sulfide: The contaminant behind that awful smell that makes it impossible to even get close to the water. Sulfur is the reason why sometimes water has that rotten egg smell.
  • Manganese: This is a minor contaminant that increases the hardness of water and can also be damaging to the skin for bathing.

To tackle these contaminants, the SpringWell is equipped with a single filtration unit that manages these three contaminants. Here’s how it works.

At the top of the filtration unit, there is an air pocket that houses oxygen. Water enters the filter chamber through the inlet pipe and then goes through the oxygen unit. The oxygen reacts with the three contaminants in the water, forming the oxides such as iron oxide and manganese oxide. The oxides are then removed from the water, and the clean water is sent back through the outlet to your home. This is how the filter works.

Coming to the numbers, here are the numbers the company claims.

  • Manganese by up to 1 PPM
  • Hydrogen Sulfide by up to 8 PPM
  • Iron by up to 7 PPM

PPM here refers to parts per million. For the people who don’t know, these numbers are very impressive. For reference, the US health department says that anything below 10 PPM for iron is considered safe for drinking. The same number goes for hydrogen sulfide.

SpringWell Whole House Well Water Filter System User Review

In summary, the filtration is impressive and will be powerful enough to improve the quality of your well water. But claims are of no use unless they are tested. And that is why we got one for ourselves and put the SpringWell to the test. Here’s what we found.

Testing The SpringWell Whole House Filter

Since we’ll be testing a whole house water filter, we had to go hard on it. So we took the water sample and spiked it with incredible amounts of iron, hydrogen sulfide, and a dash of manganese. The iron amount after contamination was 35 PPM, while hydrogen sulfide was at around 28 PPM.

With these contaminants, we also added microorganisms such as E. coli and Giardia to see how well they could remove the microbes. Do note that the filter comes with an optional UV filter that can remove most of the dangerous bacteria and viruses. So we thought, why not test both aspects of this filter.

The sample went inside, and after the quick filtration was over, we tested the water. The first thing we noted was how efficient the filter was in removing the unbearable odor of the hydrogen sulfide inside the water. There was no way of telling that the sample smelled so bad before filtration.

Testing the sample showed delightful results. Iron content in the sample stood at a delightful 8 PPM, whereas sulfide was down to 8 PPM. These are great numbers since the amount that we added was a lot. Such highly concentrated contamination is rare anywhere, let alone in your water reservoir. So in terms of removal of the smell and iron along with manganese, this filter works like a charm.

SpringWell Whole House Well Water Filter System Review

Scrutinizing the water sample for any sign of microorganisms yielded great results. There was no sign of any E. coli or Giardia. We are certain that be it any other common bacteria, the fate for them would have been the same as our two candidates. The UV filter works wonderfully and removes most of the harmful pathogens. Again, top marks in terms of filtration. If you are suffering from high iron content and/or a bad smell, this filter will solve your issues easily.

What We Liked About This Filter?

Pros
  • Amazing Water Flow Rate
  • UV Add-On
  • Reverse Osmosis Add-On
  • Warranty And Money-Back Guarantee
Cons
  • Price

There were a lot of great things that we loved about this filter, and the list goes long. Here are some of the best benefits of the SpringWell whole house well water purifier.

1. Amazing Water Flow Rate

The SpringWell does not compromise the water flow rate. We have seen many great whole house well water filter systems that work wonderfully but lack severely in the water flow rate. What’s the point of getting great water if it only trickles down the faucet? It is where SpringWell shines. This filter offers 12 gallons per minute water flow rate for a house with 1-4 bathrooms.

2. UV Add-On

Perhaps the most important add-on that you can get is the UV add-on, and we recommend getting it. As mentioned before, iron and sulfur contaminants are one class of common contaminants. The other class is microorganisms, and while you might not be drinking the water, no one wants a bacteria-infested water supply in their houses. It is why the UV addon makes a lot of sense. We tested it, and it works brilliantly in removing all the common pathogens that you get to see in stagnant water.

3. Reverse Osmosis Add-On

SpringWell gives you the option to add a reverse osmosis system to this filter to remove other chemicals and metal contaminants from your water source. The RO can effectively remove all the common chemicals such as chlorine, fluoride, VOCs, pesticides, herbicides, etc. Reverse osmosis removes the finer contaminants to extreme levels, making water completely fit for consumption. If you can afford to add it, go for it.

4. Warranty And Money-Back Guarantee

Any good product does not qualify to be called good unless it offers a great warranty and money-back guarantee. It is because how can you trust a company saying their product is great if they don’t have the confidence of giving a decent warranty? We are glad to say that the SpringWell comes with a lifetime warranty on the tank and other components of the filter. You also get a brilliant six months money-back guarantee—a safe and great investment.

What We Did Not Like?

There is only one thing that we did not like about the SpringWell well water filtration system. The installation part is complicated, and you will have a tough time installing this filter all by yourself. But this is expected for a filter this size. Here is the one con that we found about this filter.

1. Price

Don’t expect to get this filter at a low price. The SpringWell is expensive. Very expensive. The single filter retails at $2138, which is a lot. But the price grows so fast when you add the UV and RO units, which is very important if you want to make this filter an all-in-one unit. After adding all the add-ons, the price can go as high as four thousand dollars.

SpringWell Whole House Well Water Filter System Review

SpringWell Whole House Well Water Filter System is made with very premium quality material, and is equipped with single filtration unit, which eliminates Iron, Hydrogen sulfide & Manganese from well water very easily. The water flow rate is 12 gallons per minute which is quite impressive and all this comes with a 6 month money back guarantee.

Conclusion

The SpringWell whole house well water filter works excellently in delivering what it claims. Designed to remove iron and sulfur in water efficiently, we tested it and found that it works just as claimed. But what makes this even better is the option for add-ons, making it the complete filtration solution for your house. Great filtration, great features, and superior build quality are the qualities of the SpringWell well water filter. We’d give this eight out of ten, and it loses some points only because of the high price. Other than that, the filter is not lacking infiltration or quality. If you have the money to afford it, then go for it. You won’t be disappointed.
