Epic Pure Countertop Water Dispenser Review

Simple, Powerful, Environment-friendly, and Affordable. These are the words that we would like to describe the Epic Pure countertop water filter. It is a water filter that looks like something that would come from Colorado, and it is. The design of the Epic Pure is perhaps one of the most polarizing designs we’ve ever seen; You either love the clear and basic design language, or you hate it. There is no in-between for many. So how does this countertop filter perform in becoming the most preferred water filter for your home?

After reading all the reviews and witnessing the popularity, we had to try it for ourselves. We got one for ourselves to test all the features, the pros and cons, and of course, the filtration it provides. Let’s see if this becomes our recommendation for your home or something you should totally avoid.

What’s In The Box?

The unboxing experience is something that we have always put a lot of focus on, and the same goes for the Epic Pure. The entire unit came in a box that looked like any other cardboard delivery box. The filter was well packed and safely cushioned to protect the brittle fiberglass from cracking. The packaging felt very premium and not something you get from shady Chinese websites—so overall a good unboxing experience.

Then we took the filter out from the box and got a little bit of a mixed reaction from everyone. While the quality of individual materials is great, there was something about the weight of the product that made it feel very flimsy and cheap. Even though the product is quite affordable, no one wants to feel the low price in the build quality. Don’t get us wrong; There is nothing wrong with the build quality of the product. In fact, we loved the strong polycarbonate body and the feel of the plastic components. The only problem is with the weight distribution. But this is only a minor issue that might not be shared by many of the customers.

How It Looks?

When we said that the look of the Epic Pure filter is perhaps the most polarizing look, we were not understating. The reason for this divide is because of how “filter-like” it looks. Well, not just filter-like. One of our employees (who did not like the look) said that it looked like “an ice storage pulled out from the fridge,” and we could not agree more. But, unfortunately, it looks like the icebox that comes with most of the fridges. It is perhaps the reason why it won’t look good on the kitchen countertop or your dining table.

You can fit it in your kitchen countertop (as we recommend) because that is the best place for this filter to sit. But because of how this filter is made, it is an attention grabber. So we’d suggest finding the best place where this does not come right in front of your vision. But if you appreciate the look of it, then feel free to show it off.

Filtration

After getting all of that out, let’s come to the most important part of any water filter; Filtration. How does Epic Pure perform when it comes to removing contaminants from the water? For the price the company is asking, the filtration abilities are impressive. Here’s what this filter can do on paper.

The Epic Pure comes with just one filtration unit. It is done to give the filter a clean look and make it portable. But is the single filtration unit concerning? Not at all. The single filtration unit is a solid carbon block that is powerful enough to remove all the common and harmful contaminants with excellent efficiency.

Epic claims that this filter can easily remove more than 200 contaminants by up to 99.9%. These contaminants include the usual suspects such as lead, mercury, arsenic, and other heavy metals. It can also remove dissolved chemicals such as chlorine, fluoride, VOCs, PFAs, etc. The Epic Pure can remove:

  • Lead by 99.4%
  • Fluoride by 97.8%
  • Mercury by 91.8%
  • PFOA by 99.6%
  • Benzene by 99.8%
  • Chlorine by 98.4%
  • Microplastics by 99.62%

These are some strong numbers, especially when you look at the price, portability, and size of the filter. This level of filtration is enough for most of the water supply in the US. There is no filter for sand, silt, and other sedimentary contaminants. And since there is no RO here, You can use it anywhere.

Epic Pure Countertop Water Dispenser User Review

It is what the company claims about filtration. But how does it perform in real-life usage? It is why we put it to the test and recorded its performance. It is what we found.

The Testing

We looked at all the contaminants the company claims it can remove very well and laced the water sample with those. We laced it quite heavily, so much so that you’d never find any water supply as contaminated as this one unless you live near a radioactive dump.

The process of filtration was very simple. Fill the water above and wait for gravity and carbon blocks to do their job. After a few minutes, the filtration was done, and we were ready to test the water. Unfortunately, due to the excessive addition of chlorine and benzene, there was a very distinct sweet smell to the water. Do note that benzene is one of the worst chemical contaminants you can find. It is highly carcinogenic, and any amount is dangerous.

After the filtration was over, it was very reassuring to find out that there was no smell of chlorine or benzene, meaning that the filter had worked properly in removing these two chemicals. Considering how much of these chemicals we put in the water, we are very happy to say that the Epic Pure can remove benzene and chlorine just as advertised.

The same was true for most heavy metals. Lead and mercury were removed easily, along with the other contaminants we added. We are very impressed by the filtration it provides with just one carbon filter. A great 9 out of 10 for filtration. An easy recommendation for the quality of filtration.

What We Loved About The Epic Pure?

Pros
  • Price
  • Filter Life Countdown
  • Eco-Friendly
  • Water Storage Tank
  • Portability
  • Lifetime Warranty
Cons
  • Filter capacity

The Epic Pure can be the perfect water filter for you. To help you make your decision easier, here are all the benefits or pros of the Epic Pure countertop filter. If these are the benefits you are looking for in your next water filter, then this is the one for you.

1. Price

Ready for it? The Epic Pure countertop water filter costs just $69. Yes, this filter comes way under a hundred dollars, and you can get it for as low as $55 if you get a filter subscription. Hands down, the best feature of this filter is the price. When you add the quality of filtration to this high affordability, it clearly becomes one of the best countertop filters in the market. We have not seen any other filter that offers this quality and level of filtration (along with the fact that it is 100% made in the USA) at such a low price.

2. Filter Life Countdown

This was something we had not expected to get at this price range. The Epic Pure comes with a very handy and helpful filter life countdown. It is a reminder feature that starts when your filter is about to expire and needs a replacement. The countdown begins 90-days before the filter expires. It helps in avoiding unfiltered drinking water—a truly beneficial feature.

3. Eco-Friendly

Epic has put a lot of effort into making this product environment-friendly. The entire body is made from 100% recyclable hard plastic. All the components are also BPA-free, and the company says that each filter can stop more than 1,500 plastic bottles from going into landfills each year. It is a great push towards eco-sustainability.

4. Water Storage Tank

The problem that is very common with portable and light water filters is that they have a measly water storage tank. While the tank in the Epic Pure is not gigantic, it can hold a decent 1.5 gallons of water. It is what we call the sweet spot between practicality and portability. For single individuals or even a family of three, 1.5 gallons is not that bad.

5. Portability

This filter does not require electricity, can work anywhere, and is extremely light and manageable. These are the qualities that make it one of the most portable water filter options on the market. Use it anywhere in your home or just take it on long road trips in your RV or truck. This filter can work anywhere. You can also put the entire filter in the fridge during summers to get a supply of cool, filtered water easily.

6. Lifetime Warranty

No product can be great based alone on features and price. A very low-priced filter that works well is useless if it breaks down every 2-months. It is where the warranty comes in and why we put so much focus on the warranty of any filter that we recommend. Epic Pure comes with a brilliant lifetime warranty that ensures your investment. Any failure will be met with free repairs, and if there are any serious flaws in the filtration, you get a complete replacement.

What We Did Not Like?

There were only a few things that we did not appreciate about the Epic Pure filter, such as how the filter looks and the mentioning of lightweight feeling. There are two problems that we came across, which might bug you a little. Here are the cons of the Epic Pure countertop water filter.

1. Filter Capacity

We did not expect this filter to be excellent in terms of filter life, and that is exactly what we got. The Epic Pure filters can only churn out around 150 gallons of filtered water before giving up. This is not bad for a single person or even a couple, but if you are looking for a family filter, this is not the one. The filter costs are relatively cheaper, just $46. So for a single person, this filter would easily last around 6 months. This is not too terrible, but if you are someone who does not want to be bothered by frequent filter changes, skip the Epic.

Epic Pure Countertop Water Dispenser Review

Epic Pure Countertop Water Dispenser is one of the most portable and manageable water filter out in the market, which claims to remove more than 200 containments by up to 99.9% and it comes with life time warranty at a very decent price.

Conclusion

The Epic Pure filter is a clean and simple water filter that works very well for basic filtering. It is the perfect filtration option for individuals or couples who want basic filtration without the extra bells and whistles at a very affordable price. The price of this filter is certainly the USP of it, making it the most affordable filter we have ever tried. But we are glad to say that the cut in price does not add any compromise to the list. The filter is capable and performs just as advertised. So if you are considering this filter for filtration and price, go for it without a second thought. You won’t be disappointed.
